ADMINISTRATION OF THE MONK'S WELFARE EDUCATION IN CHALOEM PHRAKIAT DISTRICT, SARABURI PROVINCE

Abstract

The research investigates local opinions on welfare education management for monks in Chaloem Phrakiat District, Saraburi Province. It uses an integrated methodology, combining qualitative interviews with 8 key informants and a questionnaire survey administered to 368 parents of students in schools under the Office of Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area 1 and Debsirin Pukhae School. Statistical techniques, including T-tests and ANOVA, were employed to analyze the data. Parents expressed positive views on welfare education management, particularly regarding educational assistance and administrative resources. The study found no significant differences in opinions based on students' education levels but did find differences based on parents' ages.Challenges to welfare education management were identified, such as budget management lacking linkage with planning, limited community involvement, disinterest from Phra Sanghathikan, and issues with the participation of abbot-level monks in funding frameworks and evaluating scholarships.

Based on the findings, the research recommends actions:1. Implement a performance-oriented budget management system for charity schools, involve parents in tracking students' progress, and include the abbot or moral teacher in the school committee. Plan meetings with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) to enable novices to study with other students. 2. The Sangha Administrator should prioritize assisting students in need and establish a stable welfare system for underprivileged children. Systematically train teachers to accept help and enhance coordination among stakeholders working with the Sangha. 3. Encourage all stakeholders to collaborate in setting up funding frameworks. Develop a clear action plan for welfare education and conduct evaluations of scholarship recipients to monitor their progress.
