BUDDHIST PRINCIPLE APPLICATION FOR PROMOTING THE ETHICS OF POLITICAL PARTY EXECUTIVES IN THAILAND

Abstract

Objectives of this dissertation were; to study the level of ethics, the factors affecting and propose the Buddhist principle application for promoting the ethics of political party executives in Thailand. Methodology was the mixed methods. Phase 1, The quantitative research conducted by studying 400 samples which were the member of political party collected the data by simple random sampling, The sample size used the Taro Yamane formula, The tool was 5 rating scale questionnaires with reliability at 0.969. The statistics used frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and multiple regression. Phase 2, The qualitative research conducted by in-depth-interviewing 18 key informants which were political executive, experts in elections, ethics, Buddhism, and public administration. The data analyzed by descriptive interpretation.

Findings were as follows: The level of Ghargvasa-dhamma and ethical promotion in overall was at high level and affected the ethics of political party executives in Thailand at the statistically significant level of 0.01. Ghargvasa -dhamma could explain 76.2 percent for the ethical promotion process 82.5. The Buddhist principle application for promoting the ethics of political party executives in Thailand found that 1. The executives protected and honored Thailand’s main institutions, 2. The executives were honest, 3. Executives dure to decide to do the right thing, 4. The executives were based on the common interests, 5. The executives had the ambition to complete their work without regard to self-interest, 6. The executives were impartial without bias and 7. The executives behaved according to ethical principles as good role models were honesty.
