PARTICIPATION OF THE FINNISH THAI BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION FOR BUDDHISM PROPAGATING IN FINLAND

Objectives of this research were: 1. To study the general status, and 2. To develop the participation of Thai-Finnish Buddhist Association in Finland, and approaches of the Thai-Finnish Buddhist Association in disseminating Buddhism in Finland, conducted by the mixed research methods. The qualitative research, data were collected by in-depth interviewing 20 key informants by the field interviews and analyzed by descriptive interpretation.
The research results were found that: 1. General conditions from the SWOT analysis was found that the strengths were the association’s initiative of unity and solidarity, mainly Buddhist Dhamma Tuta. Thai and Finnish government agencies continuously supported the activities. Weaknesses were limited budget. Thais live far away and settle down with their families, making it quite difficult to organize activities. Opportunities were the connections and assistance of European monks and Thai Buddhists in a network format. Thai and Finnish government agencies supported the activities. The obstacles were the culture and language that were the link between the indigenous people and the understanding between each other, which were still limitations. 2. The participation of the Thai-Finnish Buddhist Association in disseminating Buddhism according to the 4 Iddhipada and the 4M’s theory 1. volunteering (Chanda), volunteering with determination and dedication 2. continuously striving to help (Viriya) 3. being dedicated with care (Citta) 4. checking, correcting and repeating (Vimamsa), leading to improvements and corrections. For the 4M’s; (M1), the team started to support and devoted (M2), capital drove the administration (M3), systematic management through plans and drives (M4), factors supporting the holistic administration, the 4M’s principle and Iddhipada Dharma lead to the coordination and support of helping to disseminate Buddhism in Finland. 3.
