CAREER GUIDANCE WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF RIGHT LIVELIHOOD AND ETHICS BY DESIGN IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE APPLYING CHATGPT

Abstract

This academic article aimed to present the application of artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, in career guidance, which is a crucial process in education in the era of AI-driven society. A review of research, literature, and international reports revealed that ChatGPT has the potential to synthesize information, explain complex content, and create human-like conversational interactions, thereby effectively supporting personalized learning and career guidance. However, the use of such artificial intelligence still faces limitations, including data bias, transparency, and the absence of ethical frameworks. To ensure responsible use of ChatGPT in career guidance, this article integrated the principle of Right Livelihood with the concept of ethics by Design, and introduced the CARE model, which consists of (C) Contextualization analysis based on individual context, (A) Accountability supervision in collaboration with career counselors, (R) Responsibility transparent and verifiable communication, and (E) Ethical Values adherence to morality and Right Livelihood. This new knowledge does not confine artificial intelligence to a mere tool for career matching but enables ChatGPT to holistically support human potential development, linking technical accuracy with moral correctness, thereby fostering career guidance that is sustainable and aligned with social values.
