Abstract

This research aims to: 1. Study the level of roles of local politicians in Bang Krasan Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province; 2. Examine factors affecting the roles of local politicians in the same municipality; and 3. Propose a Buddhist integration approach to enhance the roles of local politicians in Bang Krasan Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. A mixed-methods research design was employed. The quantitative approach used questionnaires to collect data from 379 samples. The questionnaire demonstrated a reliability coefficient of 0.882. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The qualitative approach employed in-depth interviews with 10 key informants.

Findings were as follows: 1. The study found that the overall level of the roles of local politicians in Bang Krasan Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province was at a high level ( $\bar{x}$ =4.30). Likewise, the overall level of adherence to Papanika Dhamma was also at a high level ( $\bar{x}$ =4.40). The factors affecting the roles of local politicians in Bang Krasan Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province revealed that Papanika Dhamma significantly influenced the roles of local politicians in two aspects at the 0.01 level of statistical significance: Cakkhuma (vision) and Vidhuro (good management). The Buddhist integration for promoting the roles of local politicians in Bang Krasan Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province revealed that Cakkhuma enhances visionary leadership, long-term planning, data-informed local development, and public participation. Vidhuro promotes knowledge, managerial skills, decision-making, transparency, and ethical performance. Nissayasampanno strengthens interpersonal relationships, constructive communication, public participation, and adherence to moral principles, honesty, and responsibility, enabling local politicians to serve as exemplary leaders for society.
