Abstract

          This research aimed at studying the learning of community through parachute rice growing in Patan Nakrua municipality focusing on social process supporting together in experiment of new method for rice growing. The agriculturists willing to participate lived in 8 villages of Patan and Nakrua subdistrict, Maeta district, Lampang province. Process of learning consisted of 1) encouragement to leader of agriculturists 2) learning and reflecting of rice problems through individual experience and viewpoint 3) real performance for learning and self-development 4) observation for accepting new knowledge and implementation to demonstration plot 5) developing connection for community learning through parachute.

          Learning process of these agriculturists found that there was an extension to self -confidence of decision. They were brave to comment in public and accepted new knowledge or choices reasonably until it became sharing knowledge community originating from co-learning. The result of parachute farming at the first year was a prove for encouraging to ‘rice makers’ that parachute was more suitable for their areas than using of feeling and they had learnt to decide on the appropriation of area context that had changed from past instead of and the parachute was another choice for agriculturists to avoid the limits of cost, labor, growing rice problems, and reducing procedure to save time and cost of production.
