เทคโนโลยีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก: เครื่องมือช่วยเขียน “โปรแกรมค้นหาศัพท์ไทย” สำหรับนักเรียนที่บกพร่องทางการเรียนรู้ในประเทศไทย

Abstract

ข้อมูลล่าสุดเมื่อเดือนมิถุนายน ปี 2558 สำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน (สพฐ.) กระทรวงศึกษาธิการ สำรวจพบว่า ประเทศไทยมีนักเรียนที่มีความบกพร่องทางการเรียนรู้อยู่จำนวน 311,713 คน จาก 23,763 โรงเรียน ซึ่งนับว่าเป็นจำนวนที่สูง นักเรียนที่บกพร่องทางการเรียนรู้มีจำนวนเพิ่มขึ้นในขณะที่ในประเทศไทยมีการนำเทคโนโลยีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกมาใช้งานกับนักเรียนกลุ่มนี้ยังมีความจำกัดอยู่มาก เทคโนโลยีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกไม่สามารถที่จะรักษานักเรียนที่บกพร่องทางการเรียนรู้ให้หายจากความบกพร่องได้แต่สามารถที่จะส่งเสริมศักยภาพในการเรียนของนักเรียนได้ เครื่องมือเหล่านี้ช่วยเสริมให้นักเรียนที่บกพร่องทางการเรียนรู้สามารถแสดงให้เห็นถึงความฉลาดและความรู้ของนักเรียน เทคโนโลยีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกเป็นเครื่องมือที่สร้างขึ้นมาสำหรับบุคคลเฉพาะกลุ่ม ดังนั้นการพัฒนาจึงต้องมีการลองผิดลองถูกเพื่อให้ได้เครื่องมือที่เหมาะสมตรงกับความต้องการของผู้ใช้งาน ซึ่งในบทความนี้นักวิจัยได้นำเสนอเทคโนโลยีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกคือ โปรแกรมค้นหาศัพท์ไทย การพัฒนาโปรแกรมค้นหาศัพท์ไทยมีจุดประสงค์เพื่อเป็นเครื่องมือช่วยเขียนสำหรับนักเรียนที่บกพร่องทางการเรียนรู้ด้านการเขียน ลักษณะการทำงานของโปรแกรมคือ หากนักเรียนต้องการพิมพ์คำศัพท์ที่ไม่สามารถสะกดได้ถูกต้อง นักเรียนสามารถที่จะพิมพ์เพียงบางส่วนของคำตามการอ่านออกเสียงหรือตามการคาดเดา โปรแกรมจะช่วยค้นหาคำศัพท์และเสนอแนะรายการคำศัพท์เป้าหมายหรือคำศัพท์ที่ใกล้เคียงกับที่นักเรียนกำลังค้นหาพร้อมทั้งอ่านออกเสียงคำศัพท์นั้นๆเพื่อช่วยให้นักเรียนเลือกคำศัพท์ได้ถูกต้อง โปรแกรมค้นหาศัพท์ไทยจะทำงานร่วมกับโปรแกรมพิมพ์เอกสารเช่น Notepad, Microsoft Word, Open Office, Libre Office และโปรแกรมสังเคราะห์เสียงพูดภาษาไทย วาจา

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY: WRITING TOOL “THAI WORD SEARCH PROGRAM” FOR STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES IN THAILAND

Previous research during June 2015 from the Office of the Basic Education Commission, Ministry of Education stated that Thailand has a high number of students with learning disabilities. There are about 311,713 students with learning disabilities in 23,763 schools. The number of students with learning disabilities is increasing whereas the use of assistive technology is still limited in Thailand. Assistive technology does not cure a specific learning disability but will enhance or neutralize the ability of students with learning disabilities. These tools are allowing a student with learning disabilities to demonstrate their intelligence and knowledge. Assistive technology for the student with learning disabilities is a made-to-fit implementation. Trial and error may be required to find a set of appropriate tools and techniques for a specific individual. In this article we propose an assistive technology tool called Thai Word Search Program. Thai Word Search Program is aimed to assist students with learning disabilities in their writing. When the student wants to type any vocabulary that he or she cannot spell it correctly, the student will just type part of word according to pronunciation or as guessed, the program will then check and demonstrate the words for selection that most likely matches the one desired by the student including their pronunciation. Thai Word Search Program works together with any text editors such as Notepad, Microsoft Word, Open Office, and Libre Office and Thai text to speech called Vaja.
