Abstract
The purposes of this research were to study school administrators’ characteristics and guidelines for developing school administrators’ characteristics under Secondary Educational Service Area Office 39. The sample of this research consisted of 302 teachers under Secondary Educational Service Area Office 39 in 5 districts including Wang Thong, Wat Bot, Bang Rakam, Chat Trakan, and Bang Krathum. Specify the sample size by using Krejcie and Morgan's table acquired by the stratified random sampling method. The research instruments were 5 rating scale questionnaires about school administrators’ characteristics and interview the guidelines for developing school administrators’ characteristics. The result of this research found that teachers’ opinions about school administrators’ characteristics and guidelines for developing the school administrators’ characteristics under Secondary Educational Service Area Office 39 overall were at a high level and considered by each aspect found that teachers’ opinions were at a high level all aspects. The result of guidelines to develop school administrators’ characteristics under Secondary Educational Service Area Office 39 were as follow:
1. Leadership – School administrators must be good role models in order to build trust for the team and carry out the school’s goal together to work effectively.
2. Ethic and Morality – School administrators set the training to encourage teachers to improve their moral intuitions. And be a good role model who has a sense of morality: discipline, integrity, and justice.
3. Personality – School administrators develop training about improving personality and communication skills. Demonstrate their colleagues to act properly e.g., personality, communication skill, confidence, and creative thinking.
4. Human Relations – School administrators must be excellent in adjusting and giving advice. They communicate politely and use kind words with cheerful traits.
5. Administrative Skills – School administrators are responsible for providing administrative support in planning, managing schools’ data and information while considering transparency and accountability. They always make sure that the teachers are doing the right job in order to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. And they can relay the idea of working to the teacher clearly.
6. Vision – School administration must have to work together with the teachers. And think about the goal and direction of the school with a clear vision.
7. Effective Teamwork – School administrators clarify schools’ objectives with the teachers in order to set the school’s goal. They encourage the teachers to work collaboratively to achieve the goal.
8. Innovation and Technology – School administrators provide ICT Skills development for the teachers before adopting ICT into schools. And be creative and innovative. They must be good examples for teachers on ICT issues and remain up-to-date on useful programs and devices to support teachers’ work.
