Abstract

The concept of Professional Learning Community (PLC) has been considerably applied for developing Thai education over the last decade. However, Thai educators should consider cultural differences when borrowing the PLC concept and policy from other countries, whose specific culture may differ from Thai’s. Thus, this article aims to present the roles of school administrators in promoting PLC for teachers through Thai cultural perspectives. The roles include 1) using power appropriately during joining knowledge sharing sessions with teachers, 2) creating the spirit of teacher professional development team, 3) challenging the teachers to face uncertainty in order to help them perceive novel perspectives, and 4) promoting teachers’ happiness while participating PLC activities. Finally, this article demonstrates a variety of PLC activities and suggests school administrators to choose the ones fit for the school context and Thai culture.
