Abstract

The research has two objectives, namely 1) to study the contemplation-based learning process contributing to the organizational happiness in Mahidol University, Nakornsawan campus, using the methodology of action research, and 2) to study the changes of happiness found in participants of such process, using the methodology of phenomenology. The sample size used for data collection was 22 persons. The results revealed 6 attributes that lead toward the success of the learning process contributing to the organizational happiness i.e., facilitator’s personalities and expertise regarding contemplative practices, close relationships, process design aiming for personal transformation, addressing problems and challenges participants were facing into the learning process, training of trainers for process design and facilitation, and applying influential key persons in policymaking. Meanwhile, four qualities contributing to the changes of happiness found in the participants were self-awareness, open heart and deep listening, confronting one’s own dilemma and frame of reference, and surrendering to reality within to bring about new perspective. Also, participants got very happy result in four dimensions and happy result in five dimensions. Suggestion for future research is that there should be a comparative study of the results of using the contemplative learning process in creating happiness in each small groups of organization.
