Abstract

This research is a part of the thesis “The Development of physical education activities Related to Students in the 21th Century” of General Education Program of Khon Kaen University. The research purposes were to study the Problems, Needs and Guidelines to the development of physical education activities related to students in the 21th century of General Education Program of Khon Kaen University. The research samples were interviewed 10 experts. The researcher assessed the Needs of 20 Deputy Deans of Academic Department and 361 Bachelor degree students. Then the researcher This group was selected by purposive sampling. The instruments for collecting the data were Semi-structure interview and needs assessment with .82 of IOC for content validity, and .93 for reliability coefficient. Data were analyzed using content analysis and setting priority in terms of needs using Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified). The findings for this research were as follows:
1. There were some problems in providing learning objectives. The objectives were focused on healthy learners. The content were focused on sports skill. Both explanation and practice were employed in learning activities. Teaching Materials and learning sources were not sufficient for students. Measurement and Evaluation were not related to learning objectives.
2. The findings of the Needs to the Development of physical education activities of Deputy Deans of Academic Department and students’ Needs. The order magnitude of the needs index, learning activities should be developed most, the level of index was PNImodified = .50 and PNImodified = .52
3. The guidelines to the development of physical education activities, learning objectives should be clear in course objective. The content should be adjusted to exercises and physical activities. There were variety of teaching - methods. Teaching materials and learning sources should be sufficient for all students. Evaluation and assessment should cover all skills.
