Abstract

This research aims were develop the curriculum to enhance happiness with appreciative inquiry process for aging care-givers. This study was conducted through qualitative research and research and development. The four steps were as follows: 1) studying of the basic needs of the elderly care in community, 2) constructing curriculum and verifying curriculum quality, 3) applying the curriculum with elderly care-givers, and 4) evaluating curriculums. Quantitative data analyzed using the Wilcoxon-signed rank test statistics and qqualitative data analyzed using content analysis. The results were found that:
1. The community basic needs for elderly care have 2 aspects: 1) elderly care and 2) the elderly care-givers. The results led to design, create the course in Step 2.
2. Constructing curriculum and verifying curriculum quality. It is a training course consisting of 6 elements,3 phases. The examination of curriculum quality and course documentation found that the curriculum and supplementary documents were appropriate at high level.
3. The results of the curriculum application were found that; the participants have knowledge, increased attitudes and appreciation in caring for the elderly, experienced and can apply it in real situations with happiness, and can choose to use technology for communication and counseling for appropriate elderly care practices.
4. The evaluation of the curriculum were found that the participants reflected that the curriculum increases the knowledge of elderly care, happier and more self-worth. The stakeholders saw that the curriculum was practical and appropriate to the context and lifestyle, and the community has a more caring relationship.
