Abstract

This research aimed to develop strategies of total quality management to promote elite sport in Thailand National Sports University. The research was conducted in 3 phases. The first was a study of needs assessment of total quality management to promote elite sport in Thailand National Sports University. The samples used in this research were from 242 vice presidents, heads of the sports bureau, coaches, sports officials, athletes of Thailand National Sports University who were selected by the stratified random sampling. The second was drafting and checking qualities of strategies based on the results of data from phase 1 and validating them by focus group discussion with 9 experts in sports. The third was evaluation of the possibility of validated strategies by a selected group of 34 people by purposive sampling from the division of Thailand National Sports University administrators. The research was shown as follows; 1) The degree of success of total quality management to promote elite sport in Thailand National Sports University, including all the overall average was in moderate level. The importance of total quality management to promote elite sport, including all the overall average was in highest level and needs to total quality management to promote elite sport, by all groups of the samples are essential requirements for all items. 2) Strategies were also developed, based on the data, in the following 6 areas of these programs: 2.1) planning strategies for efficiency, 2.2) strategies for promoting and developing sports leaders, 2.3) strategies to promote and develop the potential of sports personnel, 2.4) strategies to encourage and develop engagement and teamwork, 2.5) strategies to promote and develop a focus on clients, and 2.6) continuous quality improvement strategy. And 3) the strategies of total quality management to promote in the elite sport in Thailand National Sports University were evaluated at a high level of practicality.
