A STUDY OF FACTORS INFLUENCING TO SELF-RESPONSIBILITY OF TEACHER EDUCATION STUDENTS IN FACULTY OF EDUCATION SILPAKORN UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This research is a quantitative study with the following objectives: 1) To examine the level of self-responsibility among teacher education students. 2) To compare self-responsibility among teacher education students based on personal factors. 3) To explore psychological and social factors influencing self-responsibility among teacher education students. The sample consisted of 319 teacher education students from the Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University. The research tools included a questionnaire on personal factors, a questionnaire on self-responsibility, a questionnaire on psychological factors, and a questionnaire on social factors. The data collection tool used in this study was a self-responsibility questionnaire. The statistical methods used were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings of the study revealed that, 1) Teacher education students at the Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University, generally exhibited high self-responsibility. When examined by aspect, awareness, family relationships, and diligence were at a high level, while health was at a moderate level. 2) Self-responsibility among the sample group, categorized by individual factors, indicated that gender, year, major of study, parent's education levels, and parent's average income did not result in significant differences in self-responsibility. However, academic performance did correlate with significant differences in self-responsibility at the .05 level. 3) The factors affecting self-responsibility included adaptability, family support, and self-confidence. These variables were significantly related to self-responsibility among teacher education students at the Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University, with a predictive effectiveness of 47.20%.
