The Cultural Perspectives Idioms Containing the Word “Tea” in the Chinese language
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the cultural dimensions reflected in Chinese idioms containing the word “Tea”, adopting the theoretical framework of cultural linguistics. The analysis reveals three major dimensions: 1) material culture, in which tea is represented as a valued resource and an integral part of daily life; 2) social culture, which highlights its role in shaping interpersonal relationships and rituals, particularly wedding ceremonies; and 3) spiritual culture, which embodies ideals of simplicity, modesty, inner peace, and harmony with nature. Overall, the findings demonstrate that in Chinese society, tea is not merely a beverage, but a fundamental element deeply rooted in daily life and cultures.
