Abstract

This article aims to examine the monthly income of Generation Z workers, and the factors associated with monthly income of Generation Z workers, using the individual as the unit of analysis. The sample comprised Generation Z workers aged 15 to 26 who had been employed within the seven days prior to  being interviewed, based on microdata from the Labour Force Survey Project conducted by Thailand's National Statistical Office in 2023. Data were collected between October to December 2023 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, while the Chi-square test was applied to determine the factors associated with the monthly income of Generation Z workers. The research results found that Generation Z were males more than females, aged between 19 to 26 years. Most were single and employed in the central region. In terms of education, the majority had completed upper secondary education as their highest qualification. Most were employed in service sector at skill level 2, working as private employees and typically working no more than 48 hours a week, in accordance with Thai labor law. Furthermore, Generation Z workers earning more than 433 USD per month were primarily those with a bachelor's degree or higher, employed in the service sector at skill level 4. The result also indicated that gender, age, marital status, region of employment, education level, employment sector, employment status, skill level and working hours were significantly associated with the monthly income of Generation Z workers at the 0.05 level of statistical significance.
