The Study of Supply Chain of Pacific White Shrimp in Nakhon Pathom Province

Abstract
This research was qualitative research which was aimed to 1) study the supply chain of Pacific white shrimp in Nakhon Pathom 2) suggest guidelines for developing the supply chain of Pacific white shrimp in Nakhon Pathom. The samples used in this research were selected by purposive sampling method. The researcher selected 10 farmers or individuals having experiences of Pacific white shrimp including 2 shrimp breeders for sale, 2 shrimp farmers, 2 middle man, 2 distributors, and 2 customers. The interview form was used as a research tool. The study indicated that White shrimp supply chain in Nakhon Pathom province could be divided into three main components 1) Upstream which was shrimp breeders and shrimp farmers, 2) Middle stream referring to middle man, wholesaler and cold storage service, and 3) downstream which was exporters, department stores and consumers. The approach for developing the supply chain of Pacific white shrimp was to increase the distribution channels for Pacific white shrimp farmers and develop new methods of breeding to create more values.
