The Use of Time in Story Telling in Lilit Payap; the King Rama VI’s literature

Abstract

The present paper focused on the use of time in story telling in Lilit Payap: the King Rama VI’s literature. It was found that the use of time in Lilit Payap was the daily-time-telling which was relevant to the King Rama VI’s work schedule. The so-called daily-time-telling was analyzed into two perspectives; (1) the story-telling and the use of time; they were the relation of story-telling and the use of time in Lilit Payap; the writer used time as a key component in telling the story (2) the value of time and the duty of human being; it was found that the concept of time in Thai has been changed since the King Rama V period; Thai people received the concept of time telling form the West and adapt it in their daily life. In conclude, Lilit Payap was the interesting example showing the westernization in the concept of time telling in Thai society.
