Abstract

This paper is part of a research ‘Participatory Strategic Plan Formulation for Community Development’ It aims to formulate integrated strategic plans, as the guidelines for involving agencies, that working in this area. The programs draw upon insightful data from the series of workshops and key massage from household based-line data.

          The outputs of the research are the six integrated strategic plans, focused on the quality of life improvement include:

1) Formulating the committee to as collaboration unit.

2) Supporting the management of housing construction and other vital facilities.

3) Strengthening cooperatives and savings groups to the key economic institution.

4) Promote health care for vulnerable groups.

5) Promoting the use of social capital for community development.

6) Promote environmental management and landscape development.

The development partner agency that plays a role in community development along Lad Phrao Canal side can take this strategic plan as a participatory development approach to implement through collaboration with the target community along the canal, based on their function that will reduce redundant operation. In accordance with the problems and needs of the community including government policies which will have mechanisms and systems for coordinating work integrated between all relevant departments. Ultimately, this community development strategy plan can be used as a model for sustainable development of communities encroaching on public areas along the canals
