Functionalism and Beliefs Through Tai-Khun Woven fabric: Case study of Baan Ton Haen, Amphoe San Patong, Chiang Mai

Abstract
Baan Ton Haen, Amphoe San Patong, Chiang Mai is a community with outstanding folk wisdom, especially the Tai-Khun woven fabric that is inherited from generation to generation. Tai-Khun's woven fabric reflects the identity of the Tai-Khun people. The pattern of the woven fabric has the meaning and beliefs of the Tai-Khun people; belief in the real world, belief in Buddhism, and belief in the world of spirit. The pattern's appearance on the woven fabric and the attiring of Tai-Khun people's woven clothes has social functions in the Tai-Khun society, which can be classified into 3 aspects is: the first, the role of explaining the meaning and rationale of using Tai-Khun woven fabric; the second, the role of maintaining standardized behavioral patterns in social norms; and the last, the role of being the spiritual anchor of Tai-Khun people.
