PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY WASTE MANAGEMENT IN KO KRET SUBDISTRICT, PAK KRET DISTRICT, NONTHABURI PROVINCE.

Abstract

This research aimed to study: 1) Public participation in waste management; 2) Factors influencing public participation in waste management; and 3) Strategies to promote public participation in community waste management in Ko Kret Subdistrict, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province. The research population consisted of residents in Ko Kret Subdistrict, with a sample size of 374 individuals and 7 village headmen (one from each of the 7 villages) providing key information. Statistical analysis included frequency, percentage, mean (x ̅), standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and correlation coefficient. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis and interpretive summary. Research findings: 1. Overall public participation in waste management was very high (x ̅ = 4.47). 2. Overall factors influencing participation in waste management were high (x ̅ = 4.42).
3. Hypothesis testing showed no significant difference in opinions on waste management participation among different personal factors. The correlation analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between waste sorting (r=.874) and participation in waste management. 4. Strategies for promoting participation included waste recycling and providing opportunities for feedback. These approaches are expected to enhance public participation in waste management.
