Abstract

Nowadays businesses are operating in a highly volatile environment, especially when the world facing the COVID-19 pandemic.  This study aims to: 1) propose an updated knowledge and skills required by logistics and supply chain managers (LSM) framework, 2) examine the importance of knowledge and skills required by LSM, 3) test if the importance of business knowledge and skills group, logistics and supply chain knowledge and skills group, and management knowledge and skills group are different, and 4) test if the importance of each knowledge and skills in the framework among the three industries is different.  The data were collected from three types of logistics services providers with revenues greater than 100 million baht per annum.  A mail survey was sent out to 655 logistics service providers, which generated 111 returned responses.  It was found that there were no differences in the importance of almost all knowledge and skills in the framework among the three industries at 0.05 significance level.  However, when comparing the three groups of knowledge and skills, it was found that respondents in all three industries regards management knowledge and skills as the most important group.  This shows that respondents emphasize soft skills over hard skills.  The results are beneficial to the development of curriculum from which graduates are well qualified and significantly contribute to the development of the country.
