Analysis of Films with Artificial Intelligent as a Main Character
Abstract
This research article aims to analyze 10 films with Artificial Intelligent as a main character regarding to the concept of Story telling element. The research result found that most of the A.I. robots in films were invented to serve human’s desire or to show the development of technology. The goals of the robots are mostly chasing for their desire which contradict to their inventors’ command. The robots would be able to live openly in the future time setting while they need to live secretly in the present time setting. The genre of these films is mostly action, drama, thriller and comedy respectively. The conflict of the robot characters is mostly the conflict between the robot and society, or another person. The ending of all stories is always close ending and has linear structure. Almost half of these films are having future time setting; the others are having present time setting. The dialogues that the robots communicate can show the comprehensive skill of each robot. Special effect is the important weapon to create the sci-fi visual in these films which leads to audiences’ believe in films themselves.
