PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD OF PEOPLE IN RURAL THAILAND: CASE STUDY NET PRACHARAT PROJECT

This academic article examines the role of the Net Pracharat project in promoting sustainable livelihoods for rural communities by analyzing related literature within the sustainable livelihood’s framework. This framework is divided into five key areas: (1) poverty reduction, (2) creation of work opportunities, (3) well-being improvement, (4) adaptation, and (5) preservation of local natural resources. The analysis revealed that internet access in rural areas contributes to poverty reduction, increased employment, improved quality of life, enhanced information literacy for adaptation, and the preservation of community resources. However, previous studies identified several shortcomings of the Net Pracharat project, including issues with maintenance budgets, high implementation costs, and internet usage not aligned with project objectives. The author proposes long-term solutions to ensure the project's sustainability, such as establishing a fund for equipment maintenance, delegating project management to local administrative organizations, implementing tools to prevent children from accessing inappropriate websites, and limiting internet usage to a maximum of three hours per day.
