PARTICIPATION TO PROMOTE HYDROPONIC VEGETABLE CULTIVATION FOR IMPROVE QUALITY OF HEALTHY RETIREMENT GROUP PHRA NAKHON SI AYUTTHAYA

Abstract

This study aimed 1) to promote hydroponic vegetable cultivation among the elderly and 2) to assess their satisfaction with hydroponic vegetable cultivation in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. The sample consisted of 145 older adults from elderly schools in three areas of the province: 40 participants from Tha Tor Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Maha Rat District; 45 participants from Bo Phong Subdistrict Municipality, Nakhon Luang District; and 60 participants from Ban Krot Municipality, Bang Pa In District. Data was collected by conducting interview, questionnaire and was analyzed by using descriptive Statistics. The findings revealed that 75.17% of participants were female. Regarding education, 46.21% had completed secondary education, while 35.17% were housewives. Nearly half of the participants (49.66%) were aged between 60 and 69 years. The average satisfaction score for promote hydroponic vegetable cultivation was very high (X = 4.77). and the average satisfaction score participation in the hydroponic vegetable cultivation was very high (X = 4.62). Additional participants’ feedback demonstrated significant interest in applying the acquired knowledge to home cultivation and potential income generation. Furthermore, local organizations involved in the project have functioned as learning centers for hydroponic vegetable cultivation, facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and skills throughout the wider community.
