A Study of History and Origin of Mahayana Buddhism

Abstract

This article entitled to study history and origin of Mahayana Buddhism and to analyze history and origin of Mahayana Buddhism. This is a qualitative research done by studying academic documents.  It was found that Buddhism was emerged with the differences from other religions because not referring to any creation of God. Buddhism originated from humans by humans and for humans. Mahayana is one of Buddhist sects that was respected in northern of India, Nepal, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia and some parts in Russia. The prominent point of this sect is the idea of practice as a Bodhisattva who creates prestige to help all beings in the world to escape suffering moreover, the large respected follower number is the people in the north.
