Community Development Roles of the Wichian Buri Municipality Community Board Phetchabun Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were : 1) to study the role of community development in the community board of Wichian Buri Municipality, Phetchabun Province 2)To compare the role of community development of the community committee of Wichian Buri Municipality, Phetchabun Province and 3) To study problems, threats and suggestions to the role of community development in the community committee of Wichian Buri Municipality, Phetchabun Province. This conducted research by using Mixed Methods Research during quantitative research   and qualitative research. Quantitative research using survey research. The sample group used in the research was people in the municipality of Wichian Buri Total 393 people from phetchabun province from population of 23,499 people using the Taro Yamane formula. Statistics used to analyze data are frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. (Standard Deviation) and testing the hypothesis by t-test and F-test using one-way ANOVA and testing the mean difference pair by Least Significant Difference methods(LSD.) and qualitative research by in-depth interviews  with 7 key informants. The context analysis techniques was applied.

The results of the research revealed that:

1. People had opinions on the role of community development of the community board of Wichian Buri Municipality Phetchabun in overall view was at the high level (= 3.77). Considering the average each item ranging  from high  to low revealed that economic promotion was   = 3.87, governing and peacekeeping   (  = 3.80), social environment and public health  ( =3.77) , education, religion, and culture  ( = 3.73), directing  ( = 3.73) and village development plan  ( = 3.59) respectively. All aspects were at high level.


2. The results of the comparative opinion on the roles of community development of the community board of Wichianburi municipality Phetchabun province by personal factors in overall view found that the people who had different gender, age, study, status and income, comments were not different at the statistical significant at 0.05. The hypothesis was rejected.


3.  Problems and threats regarding the role of community development of the community committee of Wichian Buri Municipality Phetchabun province found that the public relations in the community was not achieved because communication tools insufficient affected on losing contact with community in important dates, lack of public relations about diseases from Ministry of Health and lack of planning on preparation for a changing economy along with career promotion inside the village to make money.
   

   The suggestions were that there should be a budget for the broadcasting Throughout the village to distribute information to cover the community and should have a duty to guard the village at night. Because there were some groups of people often causing chaos at night which causing public property damage.The community should have a community complaint center set up because In some cases, people in the community cannot access the community committee,may be due to having a lot of business.
