The Buddhist Leadership of Sub-district Headman and Village Headmen of Huay Ruam Sub-district, Dong Charoen District, Phichit Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1. to Study the relationship between the Buddhist and the leadership of Sub-district headman of Huay Ruam Sub-district, Dong Charoen District, Phichit. And 2. to present the guidelines for the development of Buddhist leadership of Sub-district headman and village headmen of Huay Ruam Sub-district, Dong Charoen District, Phichit According to the dharma. This study was a mixed methods research. In terms of quantitative research, the sample was 356 persons in community of Sub-district headman and village headmen of Huay Ruam Sub-district, Dong Charoen District, Phichit by using Taro Yamane technique. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The hypotheses were tested by analyzing the inferential statistics, Peason’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Whereas, qualitative research used in-depth interviews with 15 key informants (monks and people) to support quantitative data using descriptive content analysis techniques.

Results of the Research

1) The relationship between Buddhist Leadership and the leadership of the Sub-district headman and village headmen of Huay Ruam Sub-district, Dong Charoen District, Phichit Province found that Buddhist leadership was found that each aspect of the Buddhist Leadership in overall had relationship to the leadership of the Sub-district headman and village headmen of Huay Ruam
Sub-district, Dong Charoen District, Phichit Province with a positively high level
(r = 0.569 **).

2) The approach to develop the Buddhist leadership of the Sub-district headman and village headmen of Huay Ruam Sub-district, Dong Charoen district, Phichit province According to the dharma should proceed as follows: 1) in the aspect of criteria-oriented Style, there should be conducted with strict adherence to the rules and regulations in order to achieve goals, setting up policies, targets, directions for the operation. There were working according to the plan as planed and work carefully to prevent any errors that may occur, 2) in the aspect of dedicated style, there should have a work plan in advance, work in accordance with the plan, a priority of the work done, a follow-up and evaluation of the work periodically, 3) in the aspect of related style, politeness should be treated to the people. Caring for the welfare of people equally, treating all colleagues like relatives, being friendly to everyone and having a good coordinator were treated, and 4) in the aspect of integrated style, unity, cooperation, working together, encouraging people to participate in idea, being without discrimination, being flexible in decision-making, having ways to build morale for the villagers and be democratic should be created.
