A Model for Dissemination of Preaching Monks in Prisons and Penitentiary

Abstract
The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the problems of dissemination of preaching monks in prisons and penitentiary; 2) to develop a model for dissemination of preaching monks in prisons and penitentiary; and 3) to present a model for dissemination of preaching monks in prisons and penitentiary. It was a qualitative research by conducting in-depth interviews with 22 key informants, and group discussions with 10 experts. Data analysis was descriptive content analysis. The results of the research found that 1) the problems for dissemination of preaching monks in prisons and penitentiary were: preaching monks still lacked a form and method of thinking, methods of preaching that were appropriate for preaching to prisoners, cramped place, limited regulations and stress among prisoners causing an effect on dissemination of preaching monks; 2) in terms of developing a model for dissemination of preaching monks in prisons and penitentiary, there must be a way to stimulate the mind through Yonisomanasikara and the method of preaching was to use Desama 4 to make prisoners understand “karma and the law of karma”. As for how to behave, there should be beautiful conduct, firm determination, considering the audience. There were Kalayanamittadhamma 7 and Dhammakathika 5; and 3) in terms of the presentation of a model for developing dissemination of preaching monks in prisons and penitentiary, there should be a method for stimulating the minds of prisoners that was Yonisomanasikara and the method of preaching used the method of preaching 4 to make prisoners understand “karma and the law of karma”. as for how to behave, there should be beautiful conduct in the behavior form of monks, firm determination, consider the audience, have Kalyanamittadhamma 7 and Dhammakathika 5. There should be adherence to the principles of the Patimokkha teachings, namely principles 3, ideals 4, and practice methods 6, which will enable the behavior and attitude of prisoners to be changed to create better Sammaditthi.
