Tourism Development of Phra Chanok Chakri City based on Buddhist Culture

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to develop the tourism area of Phra Chanok Chakri City based on Buddhist culture; 2) to develop the tourism process for Phra Chanok Chakri City based on Buddhist culture; and 3) to promote tourism in Phra Chanok Chakri City based on Buddhist culture. The research was a mixed research. For quantitative research, questionnaires were distributed with a confidence value of 0.95 to tourists, community leaders, and public representative groups, folk philosophers, representatives of government/local agencies, artist groups, youth, cultural academics, tourism academics, Buddhism academics by distributing 400 sets of accidental sampling questionnaires. In terms of qualitative research, document research was conducted by studying relevant information and a good role model, and in-depth interviews to select relevant groups of 35 people, two small group meetings of 12 people. For action research, area development activities such as cultural performance areas, sports areas were done by selecting communities for the third month merit-making ceremony to continue the traditions of the U Thai way of life that were outstanding in Buddhist culture. The total sample population was 670 people. The results of the research found that 1) the development of Buddhist cultural tourism areas were developed for the third lunar month merit-making event, continuing the tradition of the U-Tai people's way of life by developing the performance space and Buddhist cultural activity areas; 2) integration of creative tourism processes and Buddhist culture by integrating creative and cultural tourism processes from the community to the temple, from the temple to the community, cultural performance activities, sports activities and cultural activities in Buddhism by; 3) promoting in the tourism strategy of Phra Chanok Chakri city based on Buddhist culture which  strategy used was to increase potential and develop management and competitiveness and develop personnel, products, and services in tourism. With the participation of communities, temples, government agencies in Uthai Thani Province in area operations, activities, public relations and the promotion of tourism within the third lunar month merit-making event continued the tradition of the U-Tai people's way of life.
