Guidelines for Promotion of the Singburi Dhamma Practice Center

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the current state of the Singburi Dhamma Practice Center; 2) to study the factors leading to the prosperity of the Singburi Dhamma Practice Center; and 3) to propose the guidelines for promoting the Singburi Dhamma Practice Center. The key informants used in the research were in-depth interviews totaling 20 persons, focus group discussions totaling 11 persons. Descriptive content analysis was used. The research results found that 1) the general environmental context was quiet and secluded with little external noise. The center was located not far from the community. Transportation was convenient. The educational and practice guidelines were consistent with Dhamma and Vinaya. The personnel in the center were knowledgeable and able to provide clear guidance on practice; 2) in terms of factors for the prosperity of the Dhamma Practice Center, practitioners were good friends with each other, there was enough food, the weather was not too hot or too cold, there was no air pollution, and there were no natural disasters. The administrator should arrange the area to be clean and tidy, be a peaceful place, shade by trees, and be a suitable place; 3) in the aspect of guidelines for promoting Dhamma Practice Center, the management of the place of Dhamma Practice Center was considered important because it was something that was conducive to Dhamma practice. Therefore, the administrator should arrange the area to be clean and tidy, be a peaceful place, shade by trees, and be a suitable place for making merit. The virtue was to manage the Dhamma Practice Center to be a beautiful monastery, a pleasant place, a center of the community in terms of training the mind, and a place that was conducive to the study and practice of Dhamma to reach the essence of Buddhism.
