Development of Local Curriculum Innovation “Ethnic Cultural Heritage of Uthai Thani Province” Using the Community as a Base for Innovative Learning through Digital Technology

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the cultural context of ethnic groups in Uthai Thani Province; 2) to create the local curriculum innovation, cultural heritage of ethnic groups in Uthai Thani Province; and 3) to study the results of using and satisfaction with the local curriculum innovation, cultural heritage of ethnic groups in Uthai Thani Province using the community as a base. It was a participatory action research. The sample group represented ethnic communities in Uthai Thani Province, school administrators, teachers and students using Taro Yamane's ready-made table. It was estimated that the error will be 10 percent, consisting of 20 ethnic community representatives, 100 school administrators, teachers and students by purposive sampling. Tools included a community context survey. There was a consistency value between 0.67-1.00. Appropriateness assessment model had an appropriateness value of 4.70 and satisfaction questionnaire with the confidence value was 0.84. Data analysis was done by mean, standard deviation and content analysis. The research results found that 1) the cultural context of ethnic groups in Uthai Thani Province had different cultural identities, namely lifestyles, language, food, dress, housing, art, culture, traditions, and local wisdom, 2) developing local curriculum innovation. “Cultural heritage of ethnic groups in Uthai Thani Province” consisted of 2.1) Lao Krang and Lao Wiang, 2.2) Khmu Ban, 2.3) Karen, and 2.4) Lao Isan immigrants and created online video media. Overall appropriateness was at a high level, and 3) in the use of curriculum innovations, students learnt about art, culture and local wisdom of ethnic groups in Uthai Thani Province. They had the skills to observe, survey, record, summarize knowledge, present knowledge through creative work and overall satisfied with the local curriculum innovation at a high level.
