Analysis and Data Visualization of Lanna Ancient Documents

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to analyze information on Lanna ancient documents stored in various information sources; and 2) to present information on ancient documents to be accessible using a format to display knowledge that can be easily understood by creating images and visual data presentation format. A total of 7,457 ancient documents were studied using a purposive sampling from the Information Service Institutes related to Lanna ancient documents. The results of the research found that 1) data analysis of Lanna ancient documents had the words "Sutta" and "Kanda" the most, showing that Lanna ancient documents had knowledge about various Dhammakathikadeyya and Sutta that meant sermons delivered or dedicated at various times; and 2) displaying information and knowledge in Lanna ancient documents by data visualization can be created and displayed in the form of charts, graphs, tables, maps, infographics, and dashboards with a completeness of various elements that showed the interrelationship of data in many dimensions that appeared in the visual presentation of data, including charts showing comparisons in the amount of data, graph showing the trend of the data, table showing the comparison by share, map showing the density of documents in different locations, infographic showing both numbers and descriptive information,  and dashboard showing a complete overview of the data diagram. Therefore, visual presentation of data helped to display large amounts of complex information in a way that was easier to understand and helped with perception. Creating data visualizations in various ways made the data more interesting, easy to understand, and clearly visible, easy to remember. This research can present a data diagram that has been analyzed and categorized to create a good understanding of data perception.
