Community Participatory Research Process Model for Curriculum Development of Early Childhood Schools Focusing on Local knowledge to Develop EF Brain Skills

Abstract

The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the basic information of the development of the model; 2) to create and develop the model; 3) to take the model for a test run; and 4) to study the effectiveness of the model. This was a mixed methods research, collecting qualitative and quantitative data by studying the basic data from the study, analyzing the research documents, studying the community context, studying the community needs, the current conditions, and the desired conditions from 200 stakeholders, a participatory workshop by 15 stakeholder leaders, examining the learning management model by 5 experts, and assessing the feasibility and usefulness of the model implementation by 17 stakeholders, 6 early childhood teachers, and 60 students. The research results found that 1) community context data can be used to develop a local curriculum for early childhood schools, consisting of 6 units of experience management, with a suitability value consistent with the IOC of 1.00, 2) the model was the PHRAE Model, consisting of P: Participation by People, H: Heading for Early Childhood, R: Resources and Materials, A: Active Learning, and E: Executive Functions (EF), 3) the implementation of the curriculum for trial and evaluation can promote the development of all 4 aspects of early childhood children, with an overall score of 81.21 percent and a positive attitude towards learning local knowledge, with a score of 81.15 percent, 4) the assessment of EF brain skills development in third-year kindergarten students by organizing activities and experiences of local curriculum schools was significantly higher than the 80 percent criterion at a statistical significance level of .05. The feasibility aspect was at the highest level, with a mean score of 4.72 and a standard deviation score of 0.63, and the usefulness aspect was at the highest level. The mean was 4.77 and the standard deviation was 0.47.
