Career Promotion for the Elderly according to Elderly Welfare Standards, Department of Local Administration, Ministry of Interior in Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality, Lat Bua Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the needs to promote the elderly careers according to Elderly Welfare Standards, Department of Local Administration, Ministry of Interior in Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality, Lat Bua Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province; 2) to compare the level of needs to promote the elderly careers according to Elderly Welfare Standards of Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality, classified by personal factors; and 3) to study the guidelines for promoting elderly careers according to Elderly Welfare Standards of Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality. It was the mixed-methods research divided into 2 steps: 1) in terms of quantitative research, the sample group was 293 elderly people in Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality. The research instrument was a 5-level rating scale questionnaire with an alpha coefficient of .704. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance test; and 2) in the aspect of qualitative research, the key informants were 12 people who were purposively selected. The research instrument was a semi-structured interview form. The data was analyzed descriptively. The research results found that 1) the demand of career promotion for the elderly according to Elderly Welfare Standards of Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality in terms of sources of funds and income of the elderly in general was at the highest level; 2) comparing the level of demand for career promotion for the elderly according to Elderly Welfare Standards of Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality, classified by personal factors, the respondents with different genders, ages, education levels, occupations, and incomes had no different opinions on the demand for career promotion for the elderly according to Elderly Welfare Standards, except for those with different ages, which had different opinions at a statistical significance level of .05; 3) the guidelines for career promotion for the elderly according to Elderly Welfare Standards of Sam Mueang Subdistrict Municipality found that additional guidelines for operations, plans, projects, budgets, job placement appropriate for age, participation models, and legal assistance to increase access to sources of funds were considered.
