Development of a Tourism Community Website for Dong Lakhon Sub-district, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the current state of website usage in the Dong Lakhon Subdistrict tourism community, Mueang Nakhon Nayok District, Nakhon Nayok Province; and 2) to develop a community tourism website of Dong Lakhon Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Nayok District, Nakhon Nayok Province. This was a mixed-methods research. Quantitative research used questionnaires as the research instrument to collect data from tourists visiting the community tourism attractions in Dong Lakhon Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Nayok District, Nakhon Nayok Province. Since the population size was unknown, the researcher determined a sample size of 500 people to obtain more accurate and reliable results for analysis. Statistical program was used to analyze the data.
The statistical methods used in this research included percentage, mean, and standard deviation. For qualitative research, field data was collected through focus group discussions to determine guidelines for developing and utilizing websites and applications for the tourism community in Dong Lakhon Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province. After obtaining interview data, the researcher analyzed and synthesized it in conjunction with relevant principles, theories, concepts, and research. Finally, both sets of data were used to evaluate the website and application usage models for the tourism community in Dong Lakhon Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province, by experts. The research results found that 1) most tourists used the Dong Lakhon Subdistrict Tourism Community website, Muang Nakhon Nayok District 3-5 times/year and were highly satisfied with the Dong Lakhon Subdistrict Tourism Community website, Muang Nakhon Nayok District, overall; and 2) creating a tourism community website for Dong Lakhon Subdistrict, Muang Nakhon Nayok District, Nakhon Nayok Province. The main content of the tourism community website for Dong Lakhon Subdistrict, Muang Nakhon Nayok District consisted of (1) information on tourist attractions, community products, community highlights, tourism routes, check-in points, learning resources of each community, Nakhon Nayok Province, homestays, local food, arts and culture, traditions, community products, compilation of activity images, and contact information; (2) website design included homepage design, website homepage design, webpage design, creation of various content pages linked from the homepage. Group meetings offered suggestions such as adding up-to-date information on tourist attractions, restaurants, hotels, accommodations, and travel; having an efficient website management system; creating interaction with tourists through an online chat system; and the website should allow users to switch all web pages to a second language.
