Development of an Online Psychological Training Program to Enhance Cognitive Flexibility for New Normal Lifestyle Adaptation among Youth

Abstract
The purposes of this research article were 1) to develop an online psychological training program for enhancing cognitive flexibility for new normal lifestyle adaptation among youth; and 2) to study the effectiveness of an online psychological training program to study the effectiveness of an online psychological training program for developing cognitive flexibility for new normal lifestyle adaptation among youth. This research was an experimental study, which was phase 4 of research and development (R&D). The study sample consisted of high school students from one school under the Bangkok Secondary Educational Service Area Office and its surrounding areas, using a purposive sampling method to select 40 high school students, who voluntarily participated. The research instruments included 1) a cognitive flexibility model for new normal lifestyle adaptation among youth; 2) an online psychological training program; and 3) a program suitability evaluation form. The statistical methods used for data analysis included mean, standard deviation, and repeated measures analysis of variance. The research findings revealed that 1) developing an online psychological training program based on two integrated theories combining cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment theory can enhance cognitive flexibility for new normal lifestyle adaptation among youth; 2) following participation in the online psychological training program, the youth showed a statistically significant improvement in their cognitive flexibility for new normal lifestyle adaptation compared to before participating in the program (p < .05). Therefore, the online psychological training program can be an effective approach to enhancing cognitive flexibility for appropriate adaptation for new normal lifestyle.
