A Model for Developing Innovative Teachers in Educational Opportunity Expansion Schools
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this academic article aimed to present a “a model for developing innovative teachers in educational opportunity expansion schools,” which was developed to address the challenges of educational management amidst resource constraints. It focused on transforming the role of teachers from knowledge transmitters to leaders of change in learning management. The content presented an integrated structural relationship of six main components: 1) principles and concepts based on a philosophy of resilient and teacher-driven growth; 2) objectives to develop six key characteristics of innovative teachers; 3) context, inputs, and conditions emphasizing support from school administrators; 4) structure and mechanisms driven by Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) combined with peer coaching to create a safe working environment; 5) development processes focusing on solving real-world problems through a continuous four-step Participatory Action Research (PAOR) cycle; and 6) tripartite real-time evaluation and feedback. The conclusion from this presentation indicated that creating a teacher-driven professional learning ecosystem was a crucial mechanism for shifting teachers' paradigms towards becoming "Reflective Practitioners" who dared to develop innovations. The ultimate outcome of this model will have a direct positive impact on improving student quality in three dimensions: critical thinking and inquiry skills, quality of learning experiences and attitudes, and innovative characteristics and value creation. This will be a concrete approach to sustainably improve quality and reduce educational inequality from the grassroots level.
