A School Administration Model towards a Happy School based on Buddhist Principles for Small-Sized Schools under the Office of the Primary Educational Service Area, Inspection Region 10

Abstract
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the current and desired state, and needs of the school administration model towards a happy school based on Buddhist principles for small-sized schools under the Office of Primary Educational Service Area, Inspection Region 10; and 2) to study guidelines for developing the school administration model towards a happy school based on Buddhist principles for small-sized schools in Inspection Region 10, from a study of small-sized schools with best practices in school administration. The sample group consisted of 322 school administrators from schools under the Office of Primary Educational Service Area 10, Inspection Region 10. Data collection tools were questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was performed using the mean and standard deviation. Needs analysis was conducted by using the data from the current and desired states to calculate the needs index to prioritize essential needs using the PNImodified index. The research findings revealed that 1) the overall current situation was at a moderate level ( = 3.34, S.D. = 0.77), while the overall desired situation was at the highest level (
= 4.66, S.D. = 0.48). The priorities of needs, ranked from most to least important, were: 1st place: positive attitude (PNImodified = 0.4️28), 2nd place: operational outcomes (PNImodified = 0.403), 3rd place: appropriate welfare (PNImodified = 0.381), and 4th place: a good learning environment (PNImodified = 0.365); 2) guidelines for developing a school administration model towards happy schools based on Buddhist principles for small-sized schools under the Office of Primary Educational Service Areas, Inspection Region 10 concluded that there were 5 approaches to positive attitudes, 5 approaches to achieving target results, 5 approaches to appropriate welfare, and 5 approaches to creating a good learning environment.
