Guidelines for the Development of Processed Herbal Products of Ban Hua Fai Community Enterprise Group, Huai Sai Sub-district, Chiang Mai

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to (1) study the current situation of Ban Hua Fai processed herbal products, and (2) study the development guidelines for Ban Hua Fai processed herbal products.  This research was a qualitative research. The samples in this research were representatives of Ban Hua Fai processed herbal community enterprise, Huai Sai sub-district, Mae Rim district, Chiang Mai, consisting of 1 Mae Rim medical herbal agricultural community enterprise group, 1 president of Eve Herb herbal community enterprise group, 10 villagers and consumers. The tools used in this research was an interview form. The data was analyzed by content analysis and descriptive presentation from secondary and primary sources.

From studying the current situation of processed herbal products of Ban Hua Fai community enterprise group showed that Ban Hua Fai has mainly distributed herbal products such as compressed balls, balm and herbal compressed ball for export. The research finding for the guidelines on processed herbal product development at Ban Hua Fai found that there were the increased interests in herbal products, designs and packaging developments to make them attractive and unique in order to create added value in the products. The community tends to expand cultivation area for medical plants and increase the biodiversity of medicinal plants as a basis for the sustainable community economy development.
