The process of inheriting folk music, Pad Kong Lanna. Faculty of Rak Sil, Muang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

The research on “the process of inheriting folk music, Pad Kong Lanna, the Rak Sil group, Mueang district, Chiang Mai province” has the objectives to study 1) the wisdom of folk music  of Pad Kong Lanna 2) problems and obstacles in inheriting the wisdom of folk music, Pad Kong Lanna and 3) the process of inheriting folk music wisdom Pad Kong Lanna of Rak Sil group.  The research sample were group leaders, inheritors, and related persons by using a purposive random method of 9 people, the research tool was an in-depth interview and analyzing the data by descriptive analysis the issues related to the study. The results showed that the folk music, Pad Kong Lanna, the Rak Sil group, had a unique inheritance process for the group, led by  Mr. Suang Taipool (son) of Teacher Sawat Taipool, successor of Teacher Rod Aksornthap from    the Palace of the Princess of Chao Dararasami and Khum Chao Luang Chiang Mai. The Rak Sil group integrates both Thai and Lanna music, thus becoming the distinctive identity of the Rak Sil group. In addition, it also plays a role in preserving the traditional Lanna music by teaching youth or those interested in music without charge in order to create a career for music enthusiasts. The Rak Sil group emphasize the protection of Pad Kong Lanna music ‘s culture, so that  it continues to exist.
