The elegance of clothes BabaNyonya: Creating costumes using art forms from different cultures

Abstract

This article summarizes the results of the author’s specific study on the topic  “Baba – Nyonya costume in Muang Phuket” which is part of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Performing Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University, academic year 2022. The purpose of this article is to introduce a concept about the creation of clothing through the use of art from different cultures.

The author uses a qualitative research process. This research has a process of studying related research, including books, journals, articles, and related information sources. Including interviews with individuals and professionals who are involved in this research.

 The study revealed that marriage is a process where cultural integration can be influenced by the cultural differences between couples who live together. Results of cultural integration are expressed through lifestyles, traditions, food, architecture, and clothing.
