Problems and Welfare Needs of the Elderly: Ban Mueang Klang area, Ban Luang Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province.

Abstract

This quantitative research aims to: 1) examine the current state of social welfare for the elderly in Ban Mueang Klang, 2) identify the challenges related to elderly social welfare in the area, and 3) explore the social welfare needs of the elderly in Ban Mueang Klang, Ban Luang Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province. The study employed a questionnaire as the research tool, targeting 238 elderly individuals aged 60 years and above. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

The findings revealed that the overall social welfare situation for the elderly in Ban Mueang Klang is rated at a high level, with an average score of 4.22. The local Health Promotion Hospital provides regular and continuous medical care services for the elderly. The challenges in providing social welfare were rated at the lowest level overall, with an average score of 2.07. The main issue identified was the elderly's lack of knowledge in using technology. Regarding the social welfare needs of the elderly, physical health needs were rated the highest, with an average score of 4.44. Most respondents expressed a desire for annual health check-ups and access to health insurance.
