A Risk Behavior of the Students toward the Drugs at Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were:  1) To study the levels of a risk behavior of students towards drugs at the Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District, Chaiyaphum Province; 2) To compare the levels of a risk behavior of students towards drugs at Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District, Chaiyaphum Province, classified by genders and status of families and schools; 3) To study the approach for preventing risk behavior towards drugs of students in the Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District, Chaiyaphum Province. This research was a survey research. The sampling groups were 295 Junior High School students of the Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District, Chaiyaphum Province studying in the academic year 2018. The tools used in this research were questionnaires with reliability of the questionnaires at.92. The data were statistically analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation,     t-test (Independent sample) and F-test (One - Way ANOVA). The findings were as follows: 1) The levels of a risk behavior towards drugs of the students in the Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District, Chaiyaphum Province, is overall at a middle level (=3.27). When considering by aspect, it was found that two aspects were at high level and the rest were at moderate level that can be chronologically arranged from the highest to the lowest level as the followings: spending leisure time (=4.22), tension (=3.66), self-understanding (=3.10), association with friends (=3.10), health (=2.83) and drugs assimilation (=2.66) 2) The result of comparison of the risk behavior levels towards drugs of the students in Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District, Chaiyaphum Province, classified by genders, status of family and schools was found that the results in overall and by aspect were significantly different in statistics at the level of .05. 3) The approaches for preventing risk behavior towards drugs of students in the Opportunity Expansion Schools in Ban Thaen District, Chaiyaphum Province could be chronologically rearranged from the highest to lowest frequency as follows: (1) The teachers should cultivate consciousness on the dangers of drugs to the students in all levels of classes; (2) The teachers and guardians of students should suggest them how to associate with good friends and closely look after their association with friends; (3) The educational institutions should support sports equipment, musical instruments and other recreational activities; (4) The administrators of educational institutions should closely supervise and be more attentive in preventing the students in schools from the drugs and strictly control students from taking the drugs in schools; (5) all the educational administrators, teachers and personnel must give priority and have common consciousness to protect, take care and help the students out of drugs involvement.
