The Development of Teaching Documents to Enhance Critical Thinking Abilities in a Professional Teacher Course for the Students of the Professional Teachers of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental in one-group pretest-posttest design, and aimed to 1) develop the teaching documents to enhance critical thinking abilities in a professional teacher course for the students of the professional teachers of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University to meet the efficiency of the criterion of 80/80.   2) compare the achievement between pretest and posttest after studying through the teaching documents to enhance critical thinking abilities in the professional teacher course for the students of the professional teachers of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University. 3) compare the critical thinking abilities of the students after studying through the teaching documents in a professional teacher course for the students of the professional teachers of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University. And 4) study the students' satisfaction toward the teaching documents to enhance the critical thinking abilities in the professional teacher course for students of the professional teachers of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University. The samples were first-year students in General Sciences Program, in the first semester, the academic year of 2018, at the Faculty of Education, a total of 56 students. The samples were randomized by a cluster random sampling technique. The research instruments consisted of the teaching documents to enhance critical thinking abilities in the professional teacher course, an achievement test, the critical thinking abilities test, and the satisfaction questionnaires of professional teacher students toward the teaching documents to enhance the critical thinking abilities The statistics used to analyze the data comprised of frequency, mean, standard deviation, and the statistic used in testing the hypothesis was t-test (dependent samples).

        The research results revealed as follows:                

1. The efficiency of the teaching documents to enhance critical thinking abilities in the professional teacher course for the students of the professional teachers of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University was at 83.07/ 82.88, higher than the criterion had set at 80/80. 


2. The students of professional teachers, who studied through the teacher documents to enhance critical thinking abilities in a professional teacher course of Rajabhat Chaiyaphum University had the achievement scores after studying higher than before studying at the significantly statistic level of .01.


3. The students of professional teachers; who studied through the teaching documents to enhance critical thinking abilities in the professional teacher course of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University showed that critical thinking abilities after studying higher than before studying.


4. The satisfaction of the students of professional teachers toward the teaching documents to enhance critical thinking abilities in a professional teacher course of Rajabhat Chaiyaphum University, as a whole, was at a high level (= 4.48).
