THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMPREHENSIVE READING ABILITY USING SQ4R OF GRADE 6 STUDENTS

Abstract

               This research have a purpose To develop reading comprehension ability by organizing SQ4R learning for Grade 6 students according to the criteria of 75 percent. The target group for the research is Students who are studying in Grade 6, Semester 2, Academic Year 2023, Wang Luang Subdistrict Quality School, Wang Luang Subdistrict, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province. Roi Et Primary Educational Service Area Office 3, a total of 8 people, by purposive sampling, using an action research model consisting of 3 action cycles. The tools used in the research consisted of 1) 6 SQ4R learning plans, 2) a reading comprehension ability test. Statistics used in data analysis include percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

              The results of the research found that 6th grade students who received SQ4R instruction. In Operation Cycle 1, there was an average score of 12.00 points, accounting for 60.00 percent. In Operation Cycle 2, there was an average reading comprehension score of 14.88 points, accounting for 74.38 percent. In Operation Cycle 3, there was a score of The average reading comprehension ability was 17.25 points, accounting for 86.25 percent. Grade 6 students had the ability to read comprehension and achieved the set objectives. which is higher than the 75 percent threshold.
