GUIDELINES FOR SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS TO DEVELOP STUDENTS' SKILLS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

Abstract

This research aims to study the management of social studies teaching to develop students' skills in the 21st century and present guidelines for social studies teachers. This qualitative research involved document analysis and interviews with target groups, including social studies curriculum professors and teachers in social studies, religion, and culture, totaling 9 participants. The findings showed: 1.The management of social studies teaching to develop students' skills in the 21st century includes the following: 1) Critical thinking and problem-solving. 2) Communication and collaboration. 3) Creativity and innovation. 4) Digital literacy and technology knowledge. 5) Social and cultural understanding. 6) Self-management and independent work, and 7) Lifelong learning. Developing these skills will prepare students to face the rapidly changing world. 2. Guidelines for social studies teaching to develop 21st-century skills should include the following key approaches: 1) Promote critical thinking. 2) Emphasize collaboration. 3) Integrate technology. 4) Foster creativity 5) Integrate Buddhist teaching methods. 6) Make the curriculum flexible and adaptable: Ensuring the curriculum is flexible and can be adjusted to meet the needs of students and society, and 7) Assess for development: Evaluating learning outcomes to improve and develop student learning
