Abstract

This article focuses on studying the characteristics of local houses resulting from the integration of the geographical environment and human lifestyles through a case study of Dan Sai Subdistrict, Loei Province, in order to analyze the local wisdom in architecture that is fading. The study of the local house “Ban Sao yong Hin” in Dan Sai Subdistrict is a study of the characteristics of local houses influenced by the Tai Lue people through adaptation to the locality of Dan Sai Subdistrict. The study uses qualitative research methods by surveying, observing, and interviewing on the issues of house characteristics, construction wisdom, house characteristics in terms of shape, plan, and interior usable space. The study of the characteristics of “Ban Sao yong Hin” in Dan Sai Subdistrict found that the characteristics of the house have changed according to adaptation to the geographical environment of the area, including changes in current construction technology. There are still relatively few traditional Tai Lue houses left, which makes the value of local architectural wisdom such as Ban Saoyong Hin in Dan Sai Subdistrict need to be preserved for study of the origin of wisdom and to promote tourism in the community.
