Search and Create a Network of Texts to Preserve Oral Traditions of Buddhist Literature of Buddhism

Abstract

This research article aimed to: 1) Identify and document the orally transmitted Buddhist textual corpus preserved by Lanna indigenous scholars; 2) Develop pedagogical resources pertaining to Buddhist literary traditions transmitted through oral modalities; and 3) Establish a collaborative network for the conservation and educational transmission of such literary heritage. The research participants comprised monastic practitioners, community leadership representatives, indigenous knowledge custodians, and academic specialists The research employed mixed-method research design. Methodological approaches included structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews for data acquisition.

The research found that:

1. The documentation and cataloguing of orally transmitted literary traditions emphasized the intergenerational transmission of indigenous epistemologies through narrative discourse, while employing digital preservation technologies for optimized archival procedures.
2. The development of pedagogical resources and the practical application of orally transmitted literature in quotidian contexts facilitated enhanced cognitive processes and contributed to community development paradigms, particularly regarding psychological equilibrium and holistic well-being.
3. The sustainable conservation and transmission of Buddhist literary traditions within the Lanna oral heritage framework can be effectively achieved through the establishment of robust collaborative networks, the strategic implementation of digital technologies for knowledge dissemination, comprehensive documentation methodologies, facilitated knowledge exchange platforms, and coordinated community engagement initiatives, thereby promoting cultural comprehension and sustainable heritage preservation.
