The Public Participation in Government of Sripana Sub district Municipality, Seka District, Bueng Kan Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of public participation in the governance; 2) to compare levels of public participation in the governance based on the samples’ personal factors; 3) to study guidelines for promoting public participation in the governance of Sripana Sub-District Municipality, Seka District, Bueng Kan Province. The sample group was 400 people in Sripana Sub-district and 10 key informants. The Instrument  are questionnaire and Interview. The statistics used were: Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation, t-test and One-way ANOVA. The in-depth interview was used to collect the data and later the data were interpreted by contextual content analysis technique.
The research results were as follows:
1.The level of public participation in the governance of Sripana Sub-district Municipality in overall was at the high level in all four aspects. The participation based on the Three Sucarita (Good Conduct) was at the high level.
2. The comparative results of the levels of public participation in the governance of Sripana Sub-district Municipality revealed that people with difference in sex, age, work experience had indifferent participation in governance. The people differences in education, monthly income and the Three Sucarita showed different participation in governance.
3. The guidelines for promoting public participation in the governance of Sripana Sub-District Municipality are that the municipality should allow people to attend the meeting to create the development plan to improve governance and to examine the work to prevent corruption every year. In addition, there is a need to establish human relations with the people with sacrifice, devotion of work with sincerity and being a model for the community.
